Hethon Netherlands B.V. was founded by Gerard Heikens in 1974. Initially, he specialised in the manufacture of precision components for the printing industry. Later, he built his first film processing machine.

During the PhotoKina exhibition in Cologne, contact was made with the American Gorman Rupp Industries, or GRI for short. Those pumps for chemical additives Hethon would now integrate into its machines. For the larger quantities of rinse water and chemicals, Hethon imported Japanese Yamada diaphragm pumps which were modified here for chemical resistance. Equipment for pig insemination and other special machines were also developed, and the focus was placed on trading in chemically resistant and seal-less pumps.

In 1978, Hethon International BV was founded for the import and sales activities of all – at that time – liquid-related products and equipment built by production company Hethon Netherlands. In 1985, sister company Hethon Deutschland GmbH was founded. In 1986, in Hengelo, a joint venture was established between Hethon Netherlands and the Yamada Corporation of Japan, the beginning of Yamada Europe BV, which would now produce for Hethon International. In 1987, Hethon Belgium BvbA was founded, and Hethon France S.A. followed in 1990. This was also the year that Hethon International outgrew its roots in Ruurlo and moved to the new premises in Hengelo. The name was then adapted to its foreign sister companies: Hethon Netherlands BV, but now with the trading company Yamada Europe as its production company.

In 1988, Hethon developed a handling device for dry products: The Hethon Feeder. Think of the accurate dosing of plain flour, bakery flour, salt, sugar, but also pigments, spices, milk powders, lactose or plastic granules, wood flour, scrap, toner; in other words, too many to mention. Dosing machines already existed for all of these products, but Hethon specialised in substances that are difficult to dose and can bridge or degradade.
The new Hethon Feeder can handle all of these thanks to a dosing hopper that is made of flexible material and is moved from the outside so that the content does not get a chance to “bridge” (a technical term for when powders compact due to their own weight and settle into a hopper). Because of the outward “massage” of the product within the hopper, a very good dosage is established without separating mixtures and without coming into contact with the product, such as with stirring or tossing. In 2000, production was moved to Slovakia, where Gerard Heikens founded GME.

In 2008, Brenda Heikens, the founder’s daughter, became the director at Hethon. She found it desirable that Hethon’s own products were produced in-house. For economic reasons, in 2010, all foreign warehouses were united in Hengelo, from where all operations now took place.
Hethon once again outgrew itself due to the changes of the past years, and so in 2013 it moved to much larger premises in Doetinchem. Eventually, a number of new machines were developed for filling the Hethon Feeders, including: BigBag emptying and filling systems, sack emptying bunkers, screw conveyors, and a vacuum conveyor: the VacuFeed. Even today, client-specific powder handling components are still being developed and produced.

Simply said, Hethon has two elements: "wet" and "dry". Pumps, rotating couplings, and related items (e.g. tubes) are of high quality. In 2014 Hethon became a distributor of YTS-pump engineering. Hethon is also proud to announce that sinds 2014 she is the European distributor of Rototech products! She also a distribute ARO, Fürgut, Burgmer, and, still, GRI.

This is the history of a company that is accustomed to thinking along with its clients. You, too, can profit from this!
